Two Sub-Committees were appointed.

The first, under the Chairmanship of Mr. Fung Wa Chuen to ascertain whether any economies could be effected 'in

the working of the present hospital, and what additional ex- penditure would be entailed by the opening of the new buildings at Tai Ping Shan and of the Infectious Diseases Hospital at

Kennedy Town.

The second, under the Chairmanship of Mr. Ho

Fook to ascertain how any additional revenue could be derived

from the present investments of the hospital and to report how

additional revenue could be raised.

Mr. Fung Wa Chuen's Sub-Committee reported, that

any economies would only amount to a few hundreds of dollars,

and that additional revenue of more than $30,000 would be barely

sufficient.

Mr. Bo Fook's Sub-Committee reported that in-

creased revenue could be raised as follows:-

1. Increase on rents on houses owned by the

hospital...

$3,000

2. Donations from Theatres on account of

one whole night performance in the week...

. 8,000

3. Donations from property owners

4. Increased and new donations from guilds

5. One half new income of Man Mo Temple

As the Government could not see its way to grant-

5,000

4,000

2,500

ing the necessary permission for one all night theatrical per- formance weekly the estimated increase of revenue to be attained by the above recommendations is decreased to the sum of $14,500.
